PROPOSAL
A scenographic project inspired by Puccini's opera Tosca, reimagined through the lens of Italian Surrealism and Dadaism.
The reinterpretation of the Opera Tosca was made by conceptualizing with a collage style inspired in these movements. For this, the inspiration came from artists like Giacometti for sculptures and De Chirico and Man Ray for creating the atmosphere and iconic deconstructed eyes.

Costume inspiration
For costume design there is a use of key colors to reflect each character's emotions. Cavaradossi is associated with browns and yellows (familiarity, good character), Tosca uses white so that the lightning color changes and is reflected on her garments (passion, love), Angelotti uses black and white (prison attire of the 19th century), and Scarpia and her police officers wear black with red tones. (evil, power)

Act 1 scene 1
In this first scene Cavaradossi and Angelotti are both in a chapel. Cavaradossi is painting a blue-eyed woman and Angelotti is a state fugitive and political prisoner. The scene tells the moment when Tosca enters the chapel and begins to feel jealous because Cavaradossi (the love of her life) is not painting her, because Tosca has brown eyes. This is a scene in which we represent Tosca's envy as well as her naive thinking that everything she believes is pure reality.

Act 1 scene 2
Scarpia enters through the chapel and learns that Mario Cavaradossi is hiding Angelotti. Seeing Magdalena's painting (in the background) he remembers Tosca and begins to sing her famous declaration of love for her.

Act 2 scene 1
In this first scene we see Scarpia torturing Cavaradossi in order to extract information from him regarding Angelotti's location. On the other hand, Tosca discovers what is happening and it is announced that Napoleon has won the battle.

Act 2 scene 2
In this act, we represent the moment in which Scarpia tries to seduce Tosca, in the end, she gets Scarpia to sign the safe conduct and give it to her. It is at that moment that Tosca proceeds to kill him.

Act 3 scene 1
In this scene, Tosca proceeds to tell Cavaradossi that his execution is a farce, that when they are going to shoot him everything will actually be fine. As Tosca clarifies that she has obtained safe conduct after killing Scarpia.

Act 3 scene 2
Basically this act represents the moment in which Cavaradossi is killed in front of Tosca, when she realizes that he is truly dead and that the safe conduct was also a farce. She proceeds to commit suicide by jumping from Castel Sant'Angelo.
